This layer reduces evaporation, boosts microbial activity, enhances moisture retention, and protects the soil from erosion.
  • LESS SOIL DISTURBANCE – The BROOKFIELD® ChainBar fitted with a combination of the Continuous Cutting Edge Disc Chains and Knuckle Chain only cultivates within the top few centimetres of the soil – gentling ripping weeds out soil-free. Farming practices that encourage better root system architecture and soil fibre by minimising the disturbance of soil structure (as well as encouraging microbial activity) ultimately improve the soil’s ability to retain nutritional value and moisture.
  • REDUCTION IN CHEMICAL USE – BROOKFIELD® ChainBars have proven the ideal alternative to expensive and ineffective chemical weed control. Many farmers are turning to a more mechanical and targeted approach to weed control. Outstanding results have been achieved with the ChainBar with weed kill results standing at 100 percent (2023). In comparison, chemical kill rates stand at only 70 to 80 percent. The ChainBar is also half the cost to run than a single use application of chemical.
