Successful demonstration days earlier in the 2024 season have seen WA farmers take the opportunity to upgrade their systems with the BROOKFIELD® ChainBar.
CTS Ag’s Jono Bent said interest was high at the recent Dowerin and Newdegate field days with several switched-on operators making the move to the ChainBar.
“Farmers were primarily looking for a machine for canola stubble for trash flow management at seeding, more effective mechanical summer weed control and managing regrowth for paddock redevelopment,” Jono explained.
“The set-ups purchased at the field days included a D150D double fold ChainBar with Knuckle Chain and a 660L small seeds applicator. This customer will use the unit for canola stubble management and additional sowing capacity when field conditions are favourable. The double fold was a good option as it maintains a transport width of 3.5m and makes machine movements a far simpler exercise.
“A single fold version of the D150 fitted with Cutting Discs on the front and levelling discs on the rear was also sold with the main aim of managing regrowth country and providing non-chemical weed management options.”
Gear up now for after harvest!
The WA season is looking good so far according to Jono who said the next few weeks will be critical as far as crop production is concerned.
“There’s definitely positivity in the wheatbelt at the moment,” Jono outlined. “The wet conditions at the field days buoyed spirits. Spring has well and truly hit now with warm days and everything growing at a 100 miles per hour.
“The crops will be using all the moisture available now. Compared to last year it seems a much more consistently decent year across most regions. Last year some of the traditionally reliable areas didn’t get the season they normally do, so there is more excitement around how things are progressing this year for sure.
