BROOKFIELD® ChainBar fitted with Knuckle Chain proves “canola stubble killing machine”!
Popular across Australia, the BROOKFIELD® D130D ChainBar fitted with the KC96 Knuckle Chain has proven the ultimate mulching tool in a series of demos held by CTS Ag in WA.
CTS Ag’s Jono Bent said the combination was confirmed a “canola stubble killing machine” during demos that ran from the end of November through until February in Tambellup, Brookton, Kojonup, Boxwood Hills, Ongerup, Kulin, Bullaring, Goomalling and Wagin.
“We got to see the ChainBar and Knuckle Chain in action under various conditions including straight in behind the header,” Jono explained. “The unit performed unbelievably well in far from ideal circumstances as the crop was direct headed the day before and plenty of green stalks were still present.
“The later demo days saw the ChainBar literally cleaning up and proving why it’s so effective as a sustainable alternative. The mulch-like layer created the ideal conditions to improve soil health reducing evaporation, boosting microbial activity, enhancing moisture retention and protecting the soil from erosion.”
Several machines were purchased following the demo days and were set to be put straight to work for the 2024 planting season. Jono explained many more who attended were keen to see how well the airseeder goes through between now and the end of May.
“The ChainBar obviously has multiple applications in WA,” Jono outlined. “The primary focus of our demonstrations was to handle canola stubble for trash flow management at seeding. The multitude of disc and chain options that are available provide such versatility.
